Hardware-assisted security and manageability capabilities guard against data theft with Intel Anti-Theft remote system disabling and simplify the process of deploying security patches and managing security settings across PCs for IT departments.

ASUS Super Hybrid Engine II
Users can get up and running in no time with the Ultrabook’s ASUS Super Hybrid Engine II.  The technology allows the Ultrabook to resume in just two seconds, regardless of how long it remains in standby, avoiding lengthy boot ups. The ZENBOOK can stay in standby for up to two weeks*. Data is automatically backed up to the Solid State Drive if the battery level falls below 5%, giving users peace of mind important data is protected. In addition, the dedicated Battery Savings Mode elongates battery life by as much as 25% so users can maximize their productivity, and with ASUS PowerWiz, users are always in the know when it comes to how much charge is left per application. 

High Speed Connectivity
The ASUS ZENBOOK is the world’s first Ultrabook with SATA solid state storage for smooth and fast computing. A Solid State Drive delivers quicker boot ups, quicker read/write speeds, more power efficiency, faster access to applications and has no moving parts, making it less susceptible to damage from physical shock or vibration. USB 3.0 accelerates data transfer by a factor of ten** when compared with USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.0 is more power efficient and expands the types of products a device can wirelessly communicate with. Mobile professionals and students can conveniently connect to a wired network from anywhere with the included USB dongle and Ethernet adapter.

Security
The Ultrabook’s Computrace®LoJack (subscription required) offers added protection against both laptop theft and unauthorized access to personal information. The service maps and displays a laptop’s location so users always stay informed, and in the event of theft, remotely locks a laptop and deletes sensitive files and passwords to prevent data falling into the wrong hands. It also features a dedicated Theft Recovery Team that works with local law enforcement to track and recover stolen laptops. BitLocker*** uses the Trusted Platform Module to lock the encryption keys protecting the data. The keys are not released until the state of the computer is verified. This ensures that even after the hard disk drive is removed, unauthorized access to sensitive data is blocked.  Because BitLocker encrypts all the data stored on the Windows operating system volume, computer data is better protected.

Windows 7 Professional
The UX31E runs Windows 7 Professional, which  lets users connect to company networks easily and securely with Domain Join. Users can work from anywhere because the operating system remembers preferred printers on each network, supports easy connections to a new wireless network, and offers presentation settings that can be easily turned on when needed. The operating system is also compatible with Windows XP programs to support older business applications. Advanced backup and restore options along with file encryption help users safeguard their work.
